This Privacy Policy describes how ToolShare US collects, uses and shares personal information when you use the marketplace.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email, phone, password hash, account role, status and preferences.
- Profile and location information: city, state, ZIP code, pickup area and similar location information used to support nearby rentals.
- Identity and payout verification information: verification status, provider references, connected-account identifiers and other limited verification metadata. Sensitive identity documents, bank credentials and full card information are handled by providers such as Stripe rather than stored directly in ToolShare US application records.
- Listing and rental information: descriptions, photos, pricing, availability, rental requests, approvals, dates, pickup and return records, extensions and condition evidence.
- Payment and payout metadata: transaction identifiers, payment status, refund status, security-deposit authorization status, fees and payout records.
- Disputes and support: messages, reports, uploaded evidence, repair estimates, support communications and resolution history.
- Technical information: IP address, device and browser details, session information, logs, security events and cookie data.
- Mobile app permissions: camera and photo-library access are requested only when you choose to take or select photos for listings, condition records or evidence. The current mobile app supports manual address/ZIP entry for marketplace location and does not require background location access.
- AI-assisted listing information: when you choose AI-assisted listing creation, a selected tool photo and listing context may be processed by an AI service provider to suggest category, title or description information. You remain responsible for reviewing the listing before publishing it.
2. How we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts; operate listings and rentals; process payment and payout workflows; manage deposits, refunds, extensions, late fees and disputes; provide notifications and support; verify identity; prevent fraud; improve the marketplace; comply with legal obligations; and protect users, ToolShare US and third parties.
3. Messages, reports and member safety
Rental-linked messages may be retained with the rental record. Users may report messages or members and may block another member from new in-app messaging. ToolShare US may review reported conversation content and related rental records for safety, fraud prevention, moderation, support and dispute resolution.
4. How we share information
We may share information with the other party to a rental when reasonably necessary to complete the transaction; with payment, identity, hosting, email, security and other service providers acting on our behalf; with professional advisers; and with law enforcement, regulators or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety and security.
5. Payment and identity providers
Payment, identity and payout providers may collect information directly from you under their own privacy policies. ToolShare US should receive only the information and status data reasonably necessary to operate the marketplace and reconcile transactions.
6. Texas privacy rights
Where the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act applies, eligible Texas consumers may have rights to access personal data, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, obtain a portable copy and opt out of qualifying sale, targeted advertising or certain profiling. We may authenticate a request before acting on it. If a request is denied, eligible consumers may use the appeal process provided with the response.
7. Retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for account operation, transactions, tax and accounting needs, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, legal claims and compliance. Certain records may be retained after account deletion when permitted or required by law. Account deletion can be initiated in the mobile app under Privacy & Account or at the account deletion page.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information. No system, transmission or storage method is completely secure.
9. Children
ToolShare US is intended for adults age 18 and older and is not directed to children.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this Privacy Policy as the service changes. Privacy questions and requests may be submitted through the ToolShare US privacy/support contact published on the website.
